A new love. A new challenge. A new love. A new challenge.
What happened to Esther after the conclusion of th What happened to Esther after the conclusion of the story that we read in the Bible? After the first Purim, what became of this beloved queen?

Are you stumped? There is a reason for that. The biblical account doesn’t tell us the rest of the story of Esther. We are not told what happened to her after she saved her people. She had only been queen for six years at the conclusion of that story. She would have been young. What became of her afterward?

Most of us assume that she went on as before. She remained queen. But when I dug into the historical records, I found a different queen named by the Persian and Greek records. Not Esther. What does that mean? How can we explain this inconsistency?

The Palace Spy tells the story of Esther after the story of Purim. It tries to answer the question of what could have happened to this brave queen we all love.

The Palace Spy will release in the Fall of this year. But you can already preorder a copy — click the link in my bio!

Instead of fabric softener sheets, which are, appa Instead of fabric softener sheets, which are, apparently, not good for you, we use dryer balls. The balls don’t really work, but they don’t harm your body, either, which seems like the kind of compromise that’s typical of this fallen world.

While doing laundry, one of the dryer balls fell out, and before I knew it, we were standing across the living room playing catch, throwing the ball back and forth, high and low, with a dirty trick here and there that had me running a lot more than I should.

It was a moment of pure joy. We didn’t plan it, and it cost us nothing. (Thankfully, we didn’t break any furniture.) We played like children and laughed until we couldn’t breathe.

Something magical happened. The laughter affected our memory. We forgot to be troubled. We forgot the distressing news on TV. The laughter made us forget what was pressing against our hearts.

Even when life is at its most broken, at its most bewildering, it can’t rob your joy unless you choose to hand it over. It can’t do that because joy is a gift from heaven. So if you have been feeling the oppression of the world, the heaviness of the news, don’t forget to laugh. Wield joy like a sword.
